I am so pleased to announce the first fruits of an idea I have had for many months: A Gap Year Podcast!
While The Gap Year’s primary aim will remain meeting together in person to converse about classic texts and pieces of art, my hope is that the podcast will bolster that goal.
Before each gathering I hope to interview someone who is knowledgable, or at the very least excited, about that particular text. The podcast will provide Gap Year friends near and far the opportunity to be a part of the larger conversation. Our hope has always been that the topic of conversation and materials from the official gatherings would spill over into our daily lives. Like glitter, showing up in places you least expect.
For this very first episode I had privilege to talk with our friend Danielle Charette. She graciously allowed me to pepper her with questions about the Persian Letters, Montesquieu, political theory, and even what book she loved most in her childhood.
The podcast run time is ~17 mins, I hope you will find time to work it into your day!
Thank you again to Danielle, and thank you to our Gap Year friends for supporting our pursuit to read more dead people.
With joy,
Jenoa
