The Gap Year — St. Augustine's Confessions
Hello friends,
Thanks to all who participated in our discussion of Persian Letters, and a special thanks to Danielle for facilitating our conversation!
Our next read is Sarah Ruden’s translation of St. Augustine’s Confessions. If you haven’t already, now would be a great time to begin reading it. I’m thinking about it as my “lenten” reading — if you begin reading on Ash Wednesday and read 15-20 pages a day, you’ll be done well before Easter.
I strongly recommend picking up Ruden’s translation, as her introduction to the text has some great prefatory material, and all of us having the same edition will make referencing various passages much easier. You could order it online here or pick it up at New Dominion Bookshop.
I’m tentatively planning our next meeting to be either Friday 4/21 or 4/28. I know it’s a way off, but if you think either (or neither) of those dates would work for you, reply to this message and let me know.
Thanks to all of you for participating in this, happy reading!
Robbie
