Hi friends! I’m slowly making my way through Metamorphoses and genuinely loving it. I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a Gap Year reading this much since Beowulf, perhaps! Have you started? What’s your favorite story so far? I just finished the story of Minerva demanding Envy infect Aglauros… a truly spooky read!
Gap Year On the Road
Join us at 3pm this Saturday at Mount Ida Reserve in Scottsville!
Mount Ida, Mountain of the Goddess, makes quite a few appearances in the first couple stories in Metamorphoses, mostly the creation tales. Did you know we have a Mount Ida in our backyard? Join Robbie and I this Saturday for a glass or wine (or beer!) at Mount Ida Reserve. It’s about a 30 minute drive from Cville!
September Showcase

“Writing and reading decrease our sense of isolation. They deepen and widen and expand our sense of life: They feed the soul. When writers make us shake our heads with the exactness of their prose and their truths, and even make us laugh about ourselves or life, our buoyancy is restored. We are given a shot at dancing with, or at least clapping along with, the absurdity of life, instead of being squashed by it over and over again. It's like singing on a boat during a terrible storm at sea. You can't stop the raging storm, but singing can change the hearts and spirits of the people who are together on that ship." – Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird
It’s my pleasure to invite you to join us for this wild idea I had! I don’t know about you, but I feel inspired by many of these great works of literature we’ve been reading. I wanted us to host a night for us to share our own talents and abilitie; a night of entertainment!
You’re welcome to perform original songs, musical covers, monologues, dramatic readings, stand up routines, skits, or whatever your heart desires. Both earnest and silly performances are welcome! You are also welcome to simply attend to cheer on your friends as they bravely stand before an intimate audience!
If you’d like to sign up for a slot please use this google drive!
Thanks for being a part of this wild bookclub - we’re happy you’re here. Hope to see you on Saturday!
with joy,
