Hello friends of The Gap Year!
Before I get into our reading for the month of July let me first say thank you to everyone who attended our premiere book-dinner-club. It was a wonderful time together engaging with a text from very long ago. As Robbie has mentioned before, he wanted to start this club as a way to “listen to and learn from those who have come before us, to experience both the familiar and the alien, and to experience the variety of our common humanity. In the midst of felt acceleration and ephemerality, we think it's worth experiencing things that endure — the good, the true, and the beautiful.”
In continuing with our search for the things that endure, we’d like to present our next selection: Tao Te Ching by Lao-Tzu, translated by Stephen Mitchell.
We chose the date of Saturday, July 17th for our dinner and discussion, we hope this works for everyone. Time is 5pm.
Speaking of dinner, look forward to a dim sum feast for our next gathering. Menu coming soon!
We’ll be in touch.
Love,
Jen
