Hi everyone! I am looking forward to hosting you all for our upcoming Brother’s Karamozov Bookclub. I did not finish the book and do not intend to, BUT I did read a children’s annotated version and thoroughly enjoyed it!
For our meal I’ll be serving a traditional “Zakuski” aka small snacky savory morsels
Menu
Laurel and Lemon Cocktail
Vodka cocktail with lemon bay leaf simple syrup | The air is 'fragrant with laurel and lemon.' - The Grand Inquisitor
Smoked Fish Platter
Served with pickled vegetables and dark brown bread
Caviar with creme fraiche
Alongside deviled eggs
“An Onion” Vatrushki
Individual caramelized onion tarts | “She says that, though she’s wicked, she gave an onion.”
Grushenka’s Pear Tart
with vanilla ice cream | “Grushenka” means Pear
Fyodor’s Nightcap
Iced coffee with Brandy | “Take some cold coffee and I’ll pour a quarter of a glass of brandy into it, it’s delicious, my boy”
If you can contribute $5 per person to this meal that would be wonderful, if not, no worries! We are just excited to chat about this impressive book together.
See you April 1st at 6pm!
Za Vstrechu,
Jen
